Final Fantasy XII

Even Pirates Need Protection
Hello and welcome to Fan Art! I hope you are ready to look at and discuss about pictures today because that's what I'm inviting you to do. Like I do every Friday. This week saw the rushed end of Children Of Mana... and there was much rejoicing. I have started Contact, and Mother 3 is progressing slowly. Baldur's Gate is still on hold, though. Featured this week is Glass Shard's Final Fantasy XII piece, Bunny And Clyde. There is so much in this artwork it's hard to decide where to start. But let's start with the characters. Look at how they are interacting with each other. They are very sensual and the lighting, texture and color palette all go in that direction. I like how Balthier is collecting newspaper articles about him. Lastly, take a look at the piece closely and find interesting details. I'm sure you'll find something. Lightningbarer proposes an unusual interpretation of Tifa this week with this piece. She looks much more casual than with her game outfit, that's for sure. I like the blurred background, especially the flowers. The texture in the jeans is also an interesting idea. My concern is that the cropping is too tight. She barely has enough room to breath. Give her some space! It could have been interesting to see more of the tree, and a larger cropping would have allowed just that. You might remember Nrrork's other girls-only Final Fantasy pictures from a few weeks ago. This week marks the last one of them with Quistis, Rinoa and Selphie walking under Balamb's sky. In this one, the depth of field is set so that the girls are clear and sharp while the rest, behind and before them, is fuzzy and blurred. Of course this is not a photograph but unless I'm mistaken, it was made as if it was. Have fun girls! Lucas Cersaine is back with a third Odin Sphere fan art with Oswald and Gwendolyn having what seems to be an intimate moment. Gwendolyn has a nice surprised look on her face, but I think Oswald looks kind of sad. The characters are very well separated from the background so no confusion here. Good lighting contrast as always, but that isn't a surprise considering the artist has already proven his skill at playing with light. Last picture for this week is by Red and it features Link and Malon from The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask. While Link is acting heroic and protective, Malon has a worried look on her face. Doesn't she know Link always wins? Funny composition here with the whole image tilted about 40 degrees to the left. The marker aesthetic reminds me of a child's drawing but the light reflection and the cast shadows hint at something else. Some yellow lighting on the characters would have helped create a much more dramatic feel. That is all for this week! I should come up with other phrases to start my paragraphs. Anyway, don't forget to read the comics. Terra is dangerously approaching the frozen esper. What will happen next? By the way, I think I should have mentioned it earlier, but this whole comic will end up being a massive spoiler for anyone who hasn't played the game yet. Take care and see you in the forums!
